There’s Still Time to Upgrade Your July Playlist!

Dear Hyphenly Readers,

Can you believe we’re already halfway through July? If the heat's got you wilting, we’ve got just the thing to revive you: music that moves, heals, and hits differently.

Pallavi aka Fijiana – With roots in Fiji and the Bay Area, Pallavi’s music fuses jazz-rap, pop, and Indo-Afrobeat to explore her multicultural identity.

Audrey Nuna – This Korean-American R&B artist blends snappy production with a fierce lyrical edge. Check out her collab with Jack Harlow.

KOAD – Raised in an all-white Catholic school in LA, KOAD turned confusion into creativity. The Indian-American rapper challenges beauty standards and cultural erasure.

Bobby Sanchez – A Peruvian-American, trans, and two-spirit artist, Bobby fuses poetry, music, and identity to reclaim space for Indigenous and LGBTQ+ communities.

Ruby Ibarra – A trilingual powerhouse, Ruby Ibarra spits bars in Tagalog, Bisaya, and English. Her music is a testament to the power of Filipino-American pride. In 2023, Ibarra co-founded a record label, Bolo Music Group, which highlights Filipino American artists.

Let us know which track hits your summer mood—or share a rec of your own. We’re always listening.
